    Prairie Light Solar offers consulting services for renewable energy development with a focus on Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs), Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), and other environmental incentive programs, in addition to financial modeling.

    Alex Rein
    Managing Director / Founder

    Alex founded Prairie Light Solar drawing on over 20 years of professional experience, including more than 7 years at market leading solar company SunPower Corporation.

    During his time at SunPower, Alex has:

    • Risk-managed a $100M SREC portfolio
    • Negotiated more than 70 SREC agreements and related guarantees valued north of $135M
    • Designed and negotiated SREC offtake facilities that enabled a scalable residential leasing program in 3 markets
    • Managed relationships with more than 50 environmental commodity brokers and traders
    • Co-developed more than 40M of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects
    • Led a cost efficiency project that increased free cash by $270M


    In addition to his 7+ years at SunPower, Alex has been an equities trader on Wall Street and worked in investor relations for a $30B hedge fund. Alex holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Brown University.
